Green County COVID Update — August 2021

Green County Emergency Operations Center Situation Report #45 August 25, 2021 

 

The EOC group met to share information on August 25, 2021. Much has changed with the uptick of the Delta Variant since the last meeting. The next meeting of this sharing group will be on September 9, 2021. 

 

The county has experienced 3,685 positive cases of Covid-19 since March 2020. The county has experienced 20 deaths from Covid-19 to date. Green County is now rated at a HIGH transmission rate. The average daily positive daily rate is 7.8%, the average daily rate for the state is 7.1%. There are eight outbreaks in the county, most of which are located in Albany. The breakdown of the positives are: the 20-50 age group represents 46%; 21% are of the age of 12-19; and, the 50 – 70 age group total 25%. This is the highest case rate since March 30, 2021. The Delta Variant is much more highly infectious. 

 

The Green County Health Department adheres to the recommendation of the CDC that masks should be worn indoors for the time being, regardless of vaccination status. 

 

The State of Wisconsin is now offering a $100 Visa gift card for individuals receiving their first dose of the vaccine between August 20 and September 6. Immuno-compromised patients are now able to get a booster shot. The availability of boosters for all citizens awaits the approval of CDC but will be available in the county once that occurs. 

 

Green County Public Health continues to provide drive up testing on Mondays from 9 – 11 am at their office. Hometown Pharmacies in Green County are now providing free PCR testing, Monday through Saturday. 

 

Green County ethnicity vaccination status breakdown: 49% Hispanic, 21% African American, 53% White. Eligible school aged children in the county that have received at least one dose of vaccine: 36% of 12 – 15-year-olds and 48% of 16 – 17-year-olds.
